Shubman Gill Out of Action With Dengue: What Impact Will It Have on Team India?

Shubman Gill is set to miss India's World Cup opener against Australia on Sunday after testing positive for dengue. The in-form opener missed the team's net session on Thursday and is currently undergoing treatment. The Indian team management is monitoring his progress and a final decision on his availability will be made after another round of tests on Friday.

If Shubman Gill is unable to recover from dengue in time for India's World Cup opener against Australia, the team will have to decide whether to open the batting with Ishan Kishan or KL Rahul alongside captain Rohit Sharma. Gill's absence would be a major blow for India, as he has been in excellent form this year.

Despite a brief slump during the West Indies tour, Shubman Gill has been in superb form this year. He scored a double century against New Zealand, topped the run-scoring charts in the IPL with 890 runs, and topped the batting charts in the recent Asia Cup with 302 runs. In his last few innings, he has scored 104, 74, 27, 121, 19, 58, and 67.
